Craigslistlieder, Dichterliebe, and Other Arguments
I wish that I did not feel compelled to begin with this preamble:
As the grandson of an immigrant who fled Nazi Germany, I have a good deal of fear for our democracy right now. But I also have faith in the resilience of the American people to make their defiant voices heard, as they've been doing over the last several weeks. For those who share my fear, let me reiterate how important it is to continue to peacefully resist an administration that seeks to centralize power & normalize discrimination in unprecedented ways. When you take a photograph a rally and post it to your social media account, you give courage to your fellow citizen who feels as you do, but who perhaps needs an extra kick in the pants to get out there herself. We need to continue to infect each other with urgency & energy & optimism. For those who do not share my fear, I invite you to respond to this email and let me know why the events of the last three weeks are acceptable to you. I truly want to know. I long for the civil conversation that seems to elude our society at this moment.
At least for now, life goes on, though I realize that for thousands, it has already been drastically remade in palpable ways for the worse. I consider myself lucky to be able to travel without fear. As such, I'll be hopping around the country with a headlining solo tour, in which I'll play Craigslistlieder in its entirety, Schumann's Dichterliebe, and songs from my various albums, as well as brand new material from a forthcoming LP. The dates are as follows. Click a venue name for tickets. N.B.: for those in Los Angeles, use the code 'LIEDER' for 50% off all tickets through Feb 10.

Gabriel
